it doesn’t matter what you wear … there’ll be dancing in the street

IMG_1.jpg IMG_2.jpgIMG_3.jpg IMG_4.jpgIMG_5.jpg IMG_6.jpgIMG_7.jpg IMG_8.jpgThere are certain items of clothing that will always make certain girls feel a certain way. I can only describe that feeling as a sort of blissful transcendence, that nothing will make you feel more like your true self than when you are wearing that particular item. It can be anything from riding pants, to vintage shoes, to a little black dress. A tutu is that magical item for me.

Tutus are my kryptonite. Whether I see a skirt or a dress that is made up mostly of tulle or crinoline, I feel as if I must own it. Once I wear it, I only want to dance, dance, dance. I want to dance as if no one is watching, and not stop until I am completely exhausted. I want to run and hug everyone that I see because I feel so happy and comfortable when I am in one. I want to pair it with leggings and my prettiest coat, and show it off to the world. I would wear a tutu everyday if it were socially acceptable. I believe that I will always be a closeted ballerina, and I am O.K. with that.

Tell me, what is your favourite article of clothing?

  1. Love this post! My favourites are scarves, shoes and handbags and I cannot choose between the three ;-) I really enjoy your blog and I nominated you for the WordPress ‘Sunshine Award’ last Sunday – please visit to see what you need to do if you choose to accept.

    • Thank you ever so much! And thanks for the comment ! All three are pretty stellar. ;-)

  2. I can literally feel your happiness in this post! Leather pants are my “tutu” – they don’t make me want to dance but they do give me a bit of extra swagger and never fail to make me feel amazing!

  3. My current obsession is scarves :)

    • Scarves are also pretty cool! I love the look of people wearing them year round. :-)

      • Especially living in San Francisco! There is always a chance of chilly wind so a scarf is an essential :)

You are a little ray of sunshine.

  • Welcome, friends! My name is Emory. I am a wife, mother of two (one earthside and one with the angels), and an animal rescuer. This is our life on the Canadian prairies.

  • Man, did Remy and I have a standoff this morning. All because she didn’t want to wear socks with her boots. She threw a massive tantrum, and I yelled at her. Afterwards, we went for our walk and everything was back to normal. That is, aside from her puffy eyes and tear-stained face. My poor girl. Parenting can be so hard sometimes. Thank goodness for children being so resilient.
That disaster behind me is nearly gone. We’re currently installing the last of our kitchen shelves, and our new sink arrived this morning. I’m excited to have a less cluttered spare room!
Have a wonderful week, everyone. This room has not yet been touched by us. It is our master bedroom. Everything about it (aside from our furniture) is exactly the same as when we purchased our home. I think that if we do list in the near future, it will be the only room in our house that we did not renovate. Part of me wants to stay just to finish it. A small part.
