If you are young, have Instagram, or a set of ears, you’ve probably heard of a series called ‘Throwback Thursday’. TBT as it’s known to us hipsters. The highly credible online urban dictionary defines TBT as “When you put a picture from a “while” ago on your social media sites.” Classic.
Broadway Theatre in Saskatoon has adopted this internet phenomenon and has turned it into their own cash cow by screening old and popular films on Thursday nights for one night only. The best part is, if you dress up as one of the characters in the film, your ticket is discounted.
Last Thursday, Geoffrey and I went to see Pulp Fiction. While I may appear to have Mia Wallace’s hair, and Geoff have Vincent Vega’s, we did not actually wear any costumes. And while we may own the film, seeing it in person is, as always, one hundred times better. I wish that every theatre around the world would show every great film on a regular basis. For those few hours, you are instantly transported back into time, and you get to discover that movie all over again while feeling the same sort of feelings that those people did decades ago. It’s indescribable. I just love it.
Prior to the movie starting, the owner of the theatre announced that they were going to have a dance off in true Jack Rabbit Slims fashion. The winner would get free passes to all the TBT movies for the rest of the year. Up went Vincent, Jules, Butch, and Mia, and on went the music. It was priceless.
If you’re going to see Pulp Fiction, whether it’s your first, second, or millionth time, make sure you see it in a movie theatre, with popcorn, a beer, and a dance off.

/ 10/20/2014Ah man! Florida never gets cool stuff like that. I wish my movie theaters did stuff like that. I will gladly curl my hair and quote Ezekiel to see Pulp Fiction on the big screen.

/ 10/20/2014I have tried yes really tried to understand the hype. I can’t. Watching wooden Uma … I would rather sit on a wooden hanger. John revolting well enough said. Bruce Willis? Gag. An Arquette? Laughable. I can understand the consumption of alcohol. I would need a bathtub full. And don’t edit this Emma.

/ 10/20/2014Edit? Me? Pshhhh. Hey, just because I write about a particular (great) movie, doesn’t mean that everyone (even my own flesh and blood, though I’m now starting to question that fact) will also enjoy it. If I wanted my word to be gold, then I would disable comments. However, it is not, and I look forward to what others have to say. :-)))

/ 10/20/2014I think it’s the overuse of obscenity and violence. Do those two things constitute a good movie?

Vincent: They call it a Royale with cheese. AND
Jules: If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions.
hahaha….lol Love this movie, my all time favorite. I wish they had a theatre here like that. I’m older, didn’t know this, so thanks for the news…great post!!!

/ 10/20/2014Hahahaha. Those are great lines. There are so many in that film! I should just have a post where readers leave their favourite quotes. Mine is probably:
Vincent. Oh man. I just shot Marvin in the face.
(convo continues)
Vincent. Chill out, man. I told you it was an accident. You probably went over a bump or something.
That gets me every time! Great movie. Now I want to watch it again.
