nursery dresser and clothes

Baby DresserChoosing a nursery dresser was quite the task. What began as having a separate change table and dresser, soon turned into finding an antique nine-drawer dresser that I could refinish, to a six-drawer, and finally to a brand new three-drawer dresser topped with a change pad.

IMG_0029Processed with VSCOcam with se3 presetWe had purchased the pad first, knowing that we would have to find a dresser that would sufficiently hold it. After scouring the classifieds and thrift stores in search of a vintage dresser for weeks on end, I came up empty-handed. One night I went into JYSK just before closing, and saw the cutest pine dresser tucked away in the corner. It didn’t have a price tag, so I wasn’t sure if it was still for sale. I tracked down a sales associate and asked about it. She told me that they were discontinued, but had four of the dressers left. After hearing the extremely low price, I said that I would buy one. Meanwhile, I had forgotten to check the measurements to make sure that the change pad would fit. However, by the time that I had thought of that, it was too late. I had already paid for the dresser. We went back and picked it up the next evening. Geoffrey set it up the following night, as I was sure that I had made a mistake and that it would be too small. Once it was assembled, I put the change pad on top. It’s like it was made for it. It’s a perfect fit, with no room to spare and no overhang. I was definitely very lucky with the purchase!

Baby Dresser - 6 The top drawer of our new dresser is dedicated to newborn clothes, the second drawer is 0-3 months, and the bottom is 3+ months.

Baby Dresser - 2This is also a temporary home for the dresser, and is not a peek at our actual nursery. That tour will come later, once everything is set up and we, ourselves, are more settled.
