jolly jumper tummy trainer

JollyJumperTummyTrainerOn one of our many pre-baby shopping trips, I had purchased a tummy trainer by Jolly Jumper. I had read that belly binding would aid in the natural healing process postpartum. My interest was therefore solely from a health perspective. This tummy trainer in particular said that it would:

– Instantly shape and slim your waist and tummy

– Help strengthen your stomach muscles to return to pre-pregnancy state quickly

– May be worn discreetly under clothing

Jolly-Jumper-Tummy-TrainerIt was quite inexpensive, so I thought that if it did any of the things that it promised to then it would be well worth the $30 investment.

I began wearing the tummy trainer a few days after coming home from the hospital. I wore it religiously during the day for nearly 4 weeks. These are my thoughts on the trainer:

Pros

– It helped with my overall posture, especially when breastfeeding

– It was very easy to put on and wear comfortably throughout the day

– It made me feel more secure and held together

Cons

– It was not discreet under clothing and thus couldn’t be worn in public

– It didn’t conform to my body nicely

– It was very loud when taking it off

– I don’t actually think that it makes you skinnier (which is what it says on the package, although was not a concern of mine)

Overall, I really like the idea of belly binding after having a baby. I just think that Jolly Jumper is not the best product to accomplish that. I loved the feeling of wearing the tummy trainer, however given that it fit improperly, I would seek out a different product in the event of my next baby. ;-)
