Last week, my husband celebrated his 31st birthday. For five days.
During those five days, we honestly didn’t do very much, except have multiple meals and cakes. I told him that most wedding celebrations don’t even last that long. However, we really didn’t plan for it to continue on for so long. It ended up being the only way that we could see both sides of our family.
We spent the eve of Geoffrey’s birthday at home having supper with his mum and sister who had come into town. They graciously brought us a cake.
On his real birthday, he opened his gifts from everyone, including Remy’s first card that she “coloured” for him.
The next night, we went out for supper as a family. When we came home, we put Remy to bed and had our neighbour babysit her while we went on our FIRST date since having her. It only lasted about an hour, mainly because we were so nervous and just wanted to get back home to her. It was nice to get out, and now we can say that we left her at least once before she turned a year old!
Our plans for Saturday didn’t come to fruition. I spent the day tearing up carpet and working on our new/old hardwood floors. However, that night we watched half of a movie on Netflix after putting Remy to sleep. Does that count?
Sunday was our final day of celebrating. My sister and family, as well as my step-dad came over for lunch. We had more cake of course.
All in all I would say that it was a nice, low-key (and long) birthday. I enjoyed celebrating, and I hope that Geoffrey did as well.
