books remy loves: the classics

I must confess that I actually took these photos a few months ago with intentions to use them right away. However, too many more urgent blog posts needed to be published, hence the delay. That said, Remy still adores these books, and so the post’s relevance has not changed!

Goodnight Moon and Dear Zoo are two very sweet, and very classic children’s books. They’re also both amazing for two totally different reasons.

Dear Zoo is visually a very simple book. Each animal comes in a different cage- that of which the door opens. It therefore has the added bonus of being a lift-the-flap book. Plus, it has animals. What child doesn’t love a book filled with animals?

Goodnight Moon, on the other hand, is filled with delicate illustrations, colourful pages, and the best rhymes. It’s such a gentle and lovely little book.

Goodnight Moon remains one of my favourites to this day. I didn’t know that it came in a board book option until Remy’s grandma and grandpa bought it for her. I’m so glad! She loves it, and will look at it over and over again by herself throughout the day. I’m not sure why it’s so popular, but children and adults alike seem to love it.

I’m curious, readers. What are some of your (or your little one’s) favourite classic books? Please let me know in the comments below!

Anything by Dr. Seuss :) fox in socks maybe. I’m so glad she loves books! It’s adorable to see her crawl over to her little bookshelf in the morning and start pulling out her favs. She then sits there and slowly and thoughtfully flips through each one, occasionally looking up to catch my eyes and saying “huh.” I love our mornings together before work ❤

  • Welcome, friends! My name is Emory. I am a wife, mother of two (one earthside and one with the angels), and an animal rescuer. This is our life on the Canadian prairies.

  • Early morning post (before I start painting our living room walls). We viewed our first acreage in four years last month. While the outside of the property was one hundred times more appealing than the interior, it’s inspired us to see more. We’re country folk at heart- both being raised on farms and acreages. We probably will not stop until we find that piece of prairie land that whispers our names. 🌾💛 Happy birthday, husband. I’m sorry that your birthday doesn’t always go as planned. Also, transitioning from you being gone for weeks, to then being home for a few hours, only to leave again is anything but smooth at first. But know that Remy and I do love and appreciate you so much. I hope that you have a wonderful year (since we’ll probably be spending much of it apart), wherever you now are.
