g + g engagement

These two were recently married. In addition to photographing their wedding, I was asked to take their engagement pictures. I let them pick the location that night. We left the city and drove for a short distance. We came to a spot that had a lake on the right and a prairie field on the left. Everywhere we turned it was picture-perfect, just like they were.

(Even though this was one of the most gorgeous couples that I have photographed, they asked that I do not show their faces. Out of respect to them, I promised that I wouldn’t.)

cranberry flats

Geoffrey is currently out-of-province away on training for a new career. He has been gone for a few weeks and do we ever miss him. Prior to him leaving, we had our last family session of the summer. Look at this scenery. I love where we live.

This summer cannot end soon enough. We’re so excited to have him back next month!

a + family

This session was actually broken into two parts. The first is what you see here- a family shoot at the river. It was immediately followed by a cake smash for the littlest cutie. While the day was hot and bright (not conditions a photographer enjoys), the family was so sweet. The grandparents played with the children while I took the young mother and father aside for couples photos. It was their anniversary in a few days. These turned out to be some of my favourite pictures yet.

Again, these are just a few of those photographs. To book a session, please visit Prudence + Me Photography.

Enjoy your weekend!

family photography session

In the hopes of gaining more photography clients, I decided to try something new. I ended up visiting the second largest city in our province to advertise in. Then, Geoffrey, Remy, and I made a day of it. We combined a work trip into our first family trip, and we spent the day exploring the city and taking pictures.

It made for a long day of traveling in that it was 2.5 hours either way. However, it was extremely fun and productive. Additionally, I met the most beautiful family there. She was from South Africa and he was from Romania. They were newlywed, and I could certainly feel their love and devotion to one another. We laughed the entire time as well! It was just a really fun session.

After I came home, edited the photographs, and sent them to the family, I was told that I am now their photographer for all important future events.

It was a great way to meet new clients that I otherwise might have missed. I think that I might make this a monthly excursion.

These are just a few of those photographs. To book a session, please visit Prudence + Me Photography.

family room to back porch to bedroom makeover

When we purchased our home a year ago, the back addition was labelled as a family room. It was also one of the first rooms that I tried to improve a bit. In this blog post, I explained how we added wallpaper, a new light fixture, barn wood shelf, and began using it as a porch/office. This worked very well for us and our dogs until recently. Above are the before photographs.

Knowing that we desperately needed a third bedroom for guests, I began to brainstorm how we might be able to change the space into just that. I was also thinking about resale. I contacted our realtor and asked him what it would take to legally call a room a bedroom. He replied that it would need a window (or door) and preferably, a closet. The room was already equipped with the former, so we set about obtaining the latter.

The first thing that had to go was the carpet that our dogs so aptly stained over the previous year. I returned to the same flooring store where we purchased the carpet for Remy’s room, and picked out a laminate floor that I thought would work well.

Next we ordered a large wardrobe from IKEA. Prior to its arrival, I gave the room another coat of white and Geoffrey added the quarter round moulding. After we completed that and the closet arrived, he put it together for us. Then I set to decorating- the best part!

Here is our newest bedroom:

I will be the first to admit that I know nothing about staging a room. That and my style so often changes. That said, I do what I can on a limited budget. I’m sure that many will pick out flaws with our work, but we’re both so happy with it. It’s a huge improvement and better yet, has increased the value of our home. We know that it was a smart decision in the end.
