34 weeks

I’ve experienced a few ups and downs since week 32. Only one day after my last prenatal appointment, I was back in my doctor’s office because he was concerned about my contractions. I was experiencing Braxton Hicks every 10 minutes or so for over 24 hours, and wasn’t able to do much of anything. I had called my doctor to see if he had any suggestions, and that’s when he told me to come back to see him. He ran a few tests, but everything came back negative. His diagnosis was to start taking it easy, and to get help with Remy. Impossible, I told him (given that we have no family nearby). I said that I would try though.

Less than a week later, I suddenly had very sharp contractions one evening. They were occurring every 2 minutes. My husband was out of town, so I put on Remy’s nursery rhymes and went upstairs and took a bath. I had a feeling that they were just Braxton Hicks again, but I had never felt such painful ones before. I stayed in the bath for almost an hour, timing the contractions. They would go from 1 minute, to 5 minutes, to 3 minutes, to 2 minutes, to 5 minutes, and so on. My app kept telling me to go to the hospital, but it was almost Remy’s bedtime and I couldn’t get out of the tub. I thought if I needed to, I would just deliver in the bath and call an ambulance. In my mind I was thinking that “this could be it.” I finally crawled out and called my sister crying. She said to drink a ton of water, and go to bed. I somehow got Remy to bed that night, then went myself. The frequency finally stopped a few hours later. That was probably the scariest moment of my pregnancy thus far.

Since then, I’m trying so hard to rest when I can. I’ve cut out the daily walks and instead am only going every few days. I’m also drinking more water throughout the day. Honestly, I’m not sure how much longer my body will cooperate with me. I do hope that if he/she comes early, that it will be a healthy baby! Until then, I’ll be packing my hospital bag a little sooner than originally planned.

Here’s a reminder of my 34 week update with Remy.

In the moment I was petrified, but also accepting about having to deliver a baby alone in the tub 😳😂 Hopefully it will never come to that again! I am definitely drinking a lot more water throughout the day now (it might have been due to dehydration).

      Thanks for the comment!
