Hello to those of you who are still here. I want to begin by saying that I so appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to visit my little corner of the world and read about my life. Usually, that either centres around my children, latest house renovation, recipe, and sometimes, my work.

Blogging is a dying art form. To call yourself a blogger these days is probably very rare; certainly not like it was six or seven years ago. I think almost everyone (and their pets) had a blog in 2015. Blogging back then was very community-orientated. The likes and the comments were abundant, the DIYs and OOTDs were in high gear, and everyone was logging onto the internet to read the latest posts from their favourite bloggers. I know that I certainly was.

As everything popular eventually fades, blogging is one such instance. Now it seems like almost no one reads a blog post unless it is linked through an Instagram story from a popular Influencer. Years ago, one of my posts would easily have over 30 likes and 12 comments. Now, I am lucky to get maybe five likes and any comments. Has my content changed? Not at all, but the world certainly has.

That is not to say that I am blogging for the likes and the comments. I have always regarded my blog more as a diary of my life. This is something that I have done since I was a young child. Only, rather than writing my day down with pen and paper, these days I did so by logging onto my computer and sharing it with a much bigger audience. I genuinely loved putting my life out there, for when the day comes when I am no longer here, my children (if they are still able) can read about me in the early stages of marriage, to home building, to having Remy, then Wilder, then Beau, and more. They can get a sense of who I was and how much I loved them. What started out selfishly became a love letter to my children and a showcase of the early years of their precious lives. That is what blogging was for me.

Now, I am just finding that I no longer have the passion that I once did. The drive that pushed me to start this blog in the summer of 2013; almost 10 years ago. I feel like I grew up on here, had my children, and now that we are probably done with that stage of life, it’s time for me to move on from here as well. I am crying as I write this, but I feel ready. Incredibly sad, but so ready.

So, dear friends and family, I truly thank you from the depths of my soul for tuning in as long as you did. I wrote for me, but I also wrote for you. Maybe you will see me here again, but if not, please take care of yourselves and live your lives to the fullest. It truly goes by quickly.

Have a wonderful New Year! All my best,

Emory

five months old

Wilder is now five months old! This last month was one of much growth and change.

He has now found his voice. He squeals when he is happy, and yells at us when he doesn’t like something (usually being in one position for too long). He is also starting to imitate our sounds.

He is the picture of literal joy when he hears or sees Remy. He likes to sit or stand. He now wiggles out of everything if he is not strapped in. He is much more energetic than before. We have started to call him Bamm-Bamm because he is so lively with his arms.

Wilder is on the tail end of his first sleep regression, just in time for the beginning stages of teething. I remember this phase well with Remy. It threw me for a loop with her, but I feel like it’s not really a big deal with the second child. Maybe because I know what to expect?

He is still not into books and music like she was at this age. He much rather prefers to just contently watch us all. He is so good!

Only one more month until Wilder begins solids. Time, where have you gone?

vsco-photo-1Helllooooo February! Also, to the last few weeks of my pregnancy!

As always, the previous month was filled with all things food, fashion, DIY, and baby. What else would I write about?

Printed Onesie DIY - 7Little Barn Cupboards - 6Let’s begin with DIYs. I had a simple tutorial on handprinted onesies, as well as a not-so-simple one on choosing and installing kitchen cabinets. Both turned out beautifully in the end.

Birth Prepardness - 3Speaking of babies, I had both a 32 week and 34 week pregnancy update on the blog. The former was filled with drama while the latter was much calmer. I also wrote about our enlightening experience in our prenatal classes. Last, but not least, was my farewell to my favourite pastime. That is, until our little one arrives.

Roast - 1In a bid to make suppers more effortless, we have been utilizing our crock pot more often. Last month I posted two recipes that centred on the crock pot. Here you can find our take on a delicious pulled pork recipe. We had an easy ham and scalloped potato one as well.

PM-J1186A_968_Virgin_FIGURE_01I showed you what was currently in the store for men. I also wrote a post thanking you for the boost in sales compared to this time last year. I could not run the store without the support that I get from buyers both locally and on a worldwide scale.

Geoff Birthday 2My love Geoffrey celebrated his 30th birthday last month. As my mum likes to ask us every year, “who has a birthday in January?!” While it was freezing, it was actually quite lovely and low-key.

IMG_0340Here I discussed printing photographs as well as learned what you do with your digital pictures.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 presetI was initially planning on having a wrap-up for all of 2015 and the month of December. Then I became too tired and honestly a little apprehensive at the thought of recapping up an entire year. What a year it had been! For those of you who came along for the ride, I really appreciate it. Also, you were there. You know what happened. So here I begin with the intentions of merely writing a monthly summary post, but the uncertainty of what it will end up as.

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 presetDecember started off as an unseasonably warm month, and stayed that way for nearly three weeks. We took advantage of this heatwave in the form of multiple walks throughout the day.

Third Trimester Photography - 3At the beginning of the month, I was 26 weeks pregnant. By the end, I was one day shy of 31 weeks.

Burlap Tree Ornaments - 5Rustic Christmas Candle DIY - 6Of course, December also meant that Christmas was afoot. I kicked off the month with a rustic candle tutorial. Next, I had a DIY for burlap tree ornaments. I also listed my five best holiday movies. Here were a couple of handmade gift ideas. Finally, this year’s card.

Paper Boat Wood Teething Ring - 1Speaking of gifts and good cheer, a giveaway was featured on the blog for the cutest teething/stroller toy. I just love mine to bits, and can’t wait until our baby gets to play with it!

vsco-photo-3We also found a bit of free time to attend a local craft sale during December. Luckily, we were able to sneak in at least one movie! We saw Spectre.

il_fullxfull.843815624_pjpwI also dedicated a few posts to fashion. The first one was a look into our little one’s dresser. The second was my newest and most favourite clogs to date. Lastly, I had my dream Christmas outfit. That is, if I had loads of money and my old body back.

Ok, now for 2015.

IMG_1531My most popular post was undoubtedly when The Little Barn was featured on A Beautiful Mess. You can relive the video tour here. That post was viewed over 43,000 times.

PalletDogBed5.jpgIn second place was this tutorial on making a dog bed out of pallet wood. Thank you to my husband for that! It remains my most popular pin on Pinterest.

AloeVera1Coming in third place is this explanation on propagating plant leaves. Although it has worked for other succulents, I still need to find a better method for Aloe Vera specifically. Any suggestions?

The United States - Road Trip 64The United States - Road Trip 75The United States - Road Trip 32The most commented on post, and probably my most treasured event of the year (aside from the whole baby thing), was our trip to the States. In fact, I wrote about it half a dozen times! I also shared many photos and a video from our vacation. If only we had the time and resources to take similar road trips a couple of times a year.

MovingDay21In 2015 I had also left my job after four years, gotten pregnant, moved my store, moved our home, and a multitude of other events that impacted me in a huge way. It was a year unlike any other, as I’m sure 2016 will be.

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 presetAll the best in the new year, and thank you from the bottom (to the top) of my heart for your support. You are all amazing!

Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.14.51 PMWelcome, December readers!

Another month has gone by, and here we are only weeks away from Christmas and the New Year. Say what?

Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.15.23 PMHere is what happened over on Hello, Scarlett in November.

IMG_0001I celebrated the passing weeks of my pregnancy. I began the month at 22 weeks, and ended it at 26 weeks! Baby is now the size of an eggplant. Huzzah! #🍆

In The Store - 3There were many OOTDs and promotions in the store this month. I also had two fashion posts. One featured a romper that I had purchased online, and the other a dress that I bought in town.

Kinfolk_Vol17_TheBloodMenu-2There were three food-related posts as well. The first was a brilliant dessert, the second was a look into coffee, and the third was a mason jar brownie recipe.

Red Jenny LindI discussed our new crib in this post. I also introduced my newest nephew to all of you!

DIY Sonogram Frame - 5There was only one DIY this month. It centred around babies, of course.

Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.13.30 PMAs for our weather, we went from having no snow to having a lot of snow. Much of it has since melted, and for the rest of this week we will be having temperatures above 0°C (32°F). That is extremely warm for the prairies.

Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.14.29 PMLast but not least, I not only celebrated my 30th birthday, but said goodbye to my mother as well. (Don’t worry, she’s still alive!)

Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.14.10 PMAll in all it was a fairly easy month. Now, to start preparing for the madness that is December.

Thirty - 9Have a wonderful Tuesday!
