what i bought: toddler tights

Do any other parents of little girls (or boys) love tights? I can’t get enough of them. Not only are they adorable, they are so practical as well. If I put Remy in socks and bottoms, she will usually find a way to take her socks off. With tights, she will leave them alone. It’s a win for both of us.

Normally I find that they are so expensive. What I usually end up doing is buying her thicker tights from the dollar store, of all places! Instead of spending over $20, I only spend a few. They tend to last a year, even with wearing them daily. The only downside is that they come in solid colours.

A few weeks ago, I ended up splurging on animal pattern tights from Amazon. I received a pack of three in the mail a few days after purchasing them. Guys, they are too cute! I chose green horses, beige pandas, and mustard yellow. They are 2T-3T, so they will hopefully last for quite awhile. Remy has already worn them quite a few times. I just love them!

Please excuse the state of our home. The pictures were taken when we were renovating our living room. We have since completed it, and I will be revealing the living room makeover to you in a few weeks!

sprig west peg board

I purchased this rectangle peg board from a Canadian website that I use to buy the majority of Remy’s shoes. Although primarily a site for children’s moccasins, it features quality-made products for your home as well. I saw and fell in love with this interesting wall shelf by Sprig West.

Made of Baltic Birch, it can be mounted either horizontally or vertically. It comes with four pegs and a shelf, and can hold up to 80 lbs!

This shelf is unlike anything that I have seen before. Given that it is also made in Canada, I could not pass up purchasing it. I’m so glad that I did.

zara baby haul

I think that I mentioned this before, but Remy has always been bang on with clothing sizes. When she was less than 3 months, she was in newborn and then 0-3 month clothing. As a 4 month old, she was wearing 3-6 month clothes, at 7 months she was in 6-12, and so on. Right around her one year birthday, she had outgrown all of her clothes. She desperately needed a new wardrobe, so I logged on to one of my favourite websites for baby clothes; Zara.

I was fortunate in that ordering her so many pieces aligned with spring being just around the corner. This meant that I could finally pick out lighter clothes. Hello, short sleeves, shorts, and spring jackets!

What Remy ended up getting was the Embroidered T-Shirt, the Sequinned Balloons T-Shirt, the Watercolour Striped T-Shirt (which is actually for boys, but is just so cute), the Loose-Fit Jumpsuit, the Openwork Bermuda Shorts, the Extra Long Leggings (again for boys), and the Hooded Trench Coat which I didn’t take a photo of but is to die for!

She looks so adorable in all of her clothes. Zara also fits wide, which is great for our little chubbins! With only $5 shipping, it is always my go-to store.

hanging geode terrarium kit

terrarium-kit-3A few weeks ago, I ordered this Hanging Geode Terrarium Kit from Urban Outfitters. We had a space on our wall where it would fit perfectly.

terrarium-kit-1terrarium-kit-2I wasn’t sure what to expect with the kit. Geoffrey had bought me a terrarium kit two years ago, and unlike the package had promised, nothing grew. That was a Sedum + Moss kit. This one’s main feature was a geode. It is more or less for decoration, so already I had higher hopes for it in that nothing was expected to grow.

terrarium-kit-5This kit also came with a cute glass vase. It was incredibly easy to put together, and it looks just like the one on the website!

terrarium-kit-7Overall this was a really great purchase, in my opinion. I definitely want a few more to hang around our home. Maybe I’ll get some in April. ;-)))

fin & vince

fin-vince-13One night a few months ago, Remy was up with the flu. Too worried to sleep, I laid beside her awake for most of the night. To pass the time, I was looking up children’s clothing companies on Instagram. Even though it was a horrible night, I ended up coming across the most beautiful company that makes clothes for kids. They are are called Fin & Vince.

fin-vince-15Fin & Vince’s slogan is “kidswear for the imaginative.” I just love that. To me, the pieces are retro-inspired but wholly practical. The fabrics are soft and the designs are unique. I also love that most of the pieces can be worn for either boys or girls. I don’t like dressing Remy in overly girlie clothes, and I often shop in the boy section for her pieces. This is where the gender-neutral items are.

fin-vince-12I just adore the look of rompers. I often wear them, and I love how they look on Remy. I prefer them over dresses, mostly due to mobility reasons. While dresses are lovely, they are not practical when it comes to crawling. They often get tangled under her knees, restricting her forward movements. I end up having to tuck them into her tights. With rompers, there’s no worry about the fabric becoming tangled. You also don’t have to worry about tights, or pairing a top with bottoms. It’s all one piece. They’re perfect.

fin-vince-14I bought Remy the Stork Romper because I liked the pattern. The pockets are a great feature as well.

fin-vince-11I purchased the Striped Baby Romper for her because of the pattern. Look at it. Isn’t it the cutest thing ever?

fin-vince-10I think that from now on, I will always order from Fin & Vince. However, it will only be a few items at a time due to their prices. It’s a little expensive, but it’s so worth it!
