buy these : baby booties (babybbasic)

Remy Crocheted Booties - 1One item that we did not purchase before Remy was born was any type of footwear. I had asked my sister if she ever put her babies in shoes, and she replied that she did not. In fact, she said to just buy a ton of sleepers for them. That way, their feet would always be covered. So we did.

Remy Booties - 1In hindsight, I would have done things differently. My husband and I quickly grew to detest sleepers. We found that the sheer number of buttons, as well as the fact that our tiny baby had to become more than half naked in order to change one diaper was just too much. Instead, we opted for onesies, pants, and socks. It was much less of a hassle, in our opinion! Plus, I enjoyed creating her outfits. ;-)

Remy Booties - 5.1Now that we are in the summer months, Remy is foregoing pants and socks. This means that I have nothing to put on her feet! Worried that they may get cold, I was in desperate need of footwear. So, I searched Instagram and Etsy, and much to my surprise I came across the cutest Canadian store. It is called babyBbasic

The store offers a great selection of booties. I chose navy blue for Remy. Because they are made of cotton, her feet shouldn’t overheat on a warm day.

Everything about the booties is too cute! I especially love the leather ties and tags. They are also stretchy enough so that she will have quite a few months to wear them. Score!

Remy Booties - 6.1My next purchase from the shop is going to be a bonnet. Now that Remy is teething, I am needing a bib for her as well. Oh the things I wish I knew before I had her!

Happy Monday, everyone!

3 best warm weather dresses

off%20the%20shoulderWhen things start to warm up outside, you want your wardrobe to follow suit. This year, there are a few different dresses that you need to add to your closet that will keep you feeling cool while looking fabulously fashionable.

Take a look at these top dress styles for the the coming season.

The Off-the-Shoulder Dress
Off-the-shoulder dresses have come back in a big way this season. They’re a trendy way to show off a bit of skin in a way that won’t leave you feeling overexposed. According to My Fashion Life, Kate Beckinsale perfectly demonstrated the trend at the New York premiere of her latest movie, Love and Friendship.

“Shoulders are having a major fashion moment,” My Fashion Life wrote. Beckinsale rocked the trend “in a simple yet sophisticated off-shoulder navy mermaid dress by Vatanika teamed with fishnet Louboutin heels adding a touch of goth glam to the look with black nail polish.”

Follow her premiere style and you can’t lose.

shirt%20dress2The Shirt Dress
There’s two kinds of shirt dresses. The first looks like an oversized T-shirt, with its loose lines and comfy, relaxed feel. You can usually find them in everything from cotton blends, to a jersey knit fabric. They’re fairly casual, but they’re certainly cute enough to wear out for a day of shopping or a girls’ night in.

The other is a button-up variety that’s either fitted throughout the bodice or cinched with a belt to accentuate the wearer’s curves. They’re usually seen as a bit more formal, or at the very least, it’s more commonly seen in high fashion settings. The designers featured on Lyst range from top names like Michael Kors, Armani, and Versace, proving that these dresses are more than a cosy coverup. Feel free to wear one of these to work, meetings, or out on the town for date night.

slip%20dress5The Slip Dress
These slinky dresses used to be meant for under your clothes, but they’re quickly becoming a staple for outerwear among the fashion elite. A trend alert from Platform recommends a few different styles with varying details, but it also sets decent guidelines by suggesting pairing them with boots if it’s chilly or sandals for a dainty, feminine summer look.

Granted, the slip dress can be pretty revealing on its own. So if it doesn’t leave enough to the imagination for your liking, it’s a great piece to play with in a layered outfit. You can try it out under jackets or cardigans, as well as over a pair of leggings. It’s doesn’t have to be your main focus, but it can certainly help you create a fashion-forward outfit that you can’t achieve otherwise.

These dresses are summer and mommy approved. Find yours before it’s too late!

harlee’s closet : maxi dress

Harlee's Closet OOTD - 5Today’s lovely outfit post is actually nearly three months overdue. It was originally going to be posted on my due date, with a mention of me taking a break for awhile to await the arrival of my baby. But because I delivered our daughter early, this OOTD post never came to light. Until now, that is.

Harlee's Closet OOTD - 12

Harlee’s Closet is an online store that I follow on Instagram. Their vibe is so hippie, in the chicest way imaginable. When I was eight months pregnant, I was still wearing my regular clothes. My go-to look at the time included maxi dresses, chunky boots, and cute toques. So I ended up ordering two dresses from Harlee’s Closet. This grey dress was one of them, and I lived in it, and this floral crop top until Remy arrived.

Harlee's Closet OOTD - 3Although the weather has warmed up forty degrees, I couldn’t resist blogging about one of my favourite maxi dresses to date. The fabric is so soft, and it is the perfect shade of grey to hide all postpartum flaws. It was also in immaculate condition. It now reminds me of being pregnant, and for that, I will always cherish it.

Harlee's Closet OOTD - 15Be sure to visit their website! Have the most wonderful weekend!

baby wearing

BABYWEARING-3Before becoming a mum, I had a mental list of things that I swore I would not do once our baby came along. That of course went out the window, and I now do 95% of them. The first one was co-sleeping. Another was wearing a wrap or sling. The latter is precisely what today’s post is all about.

BABY WEARING - 0My sister had gifted me her Moby Wrap towards the end of my pregnancy. I thanked her, then tucked it away in my closet. I secretly thought that all wraps were for neo-hippie parents. My husband and I are just the opposite. So, a short while after receiving the wrap, we went and purchased a baby carrier instead. That was more our style.

BABY WEARING - 1Remy was two weeks old when I published something on Instagram along the lines of asking for advice to soothe her during her evening fussy periods. In every single comment I had a mother telling me to simply wear her around the house. That evening I stuck her in the baby carrier. She didn’t like it at all, and I didn’t like how she fit into it. She was so tiny and so low on my body. So I threw that suggestion out the window.

BABY WEARING - 2It wasn’t until a few weeks later that I turned to Geoffrey and told him that I was going to try wearing her again, but this time in the wrap. I pulled it out of the closet, quickly watched a video on how to put it on, and placed her in it. She stopped crying within minutes, and fell into a deep sleep. I was astonished, relieved, and humbled. Clearly, in my bid to go against all things crunchy, I forgot to take into consideration the most important thing, my daughter. I personally did not want to wear a wrap because everyone does it. I never thought that the reason behind their popularity is because they work. It’s what the baby needs to feel snug and secure. Suffice it to say that I have been converted. I’m even looking into purchasing a sling.

I never thought that baby wearing would be such a life saver. Now I look forward to our daily wearing sessions.
