canada & independence day

Hello friends!

I wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe Independence Day. I also hope that my fellow Canadians enjoyed Canada’s 150th birthday! These holidays are always so much fun.

See you in a few days!

mother’s day

“The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the love of a Mother.” St. Therese of Lisieux

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family just outside of the city in which we live. They have a young daughter, and so naturally, I couldn’t have been more thrilled to capture them on film.

Both mother and father were so attentive and so affectionate. It was the mother’s love, though, that really stood out to me. Their deep bond was visible. It made me very much yearn for Remy. I couldn’t wait to get home and embrace her!

Here are just a few of those photographs. To see more, or to book your own session, visit Prudence + Me Photography.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Mother’s Day. Whether or not you have a child of your own, you deserve to be celebrated as a woman.

1st birthday: video

Processed with VSCO with a4 presetI am amazed that my darling Remy will be celebrating her birthday in just two days. Although I have been preparing for her party for over a month, to have a one year old is shocking.

This last year was by far the best year of my life. My life only truly began once I had my daughter. Before her, I think that I was lost. Now I have a purpose.

Remy is an intelligent, independent, and serious little girl. She loves to talk and eat. She adores books, animals, and being outdoors. She has two teeth, can say four words, mirrors every sound we make, is learning sign language, crawls, and is so close to walking on her own. She looks like her daddy but has my personality. She and I just get one another.

This last year was not always easy. From acid reflux, to work and school, to all of our family residing in another city or province, to living in three different houses. Yet, the fact that we always had a little face smiling up at us seemed to make every challenge almost or completely bearable. I tried hard to cherish every moment of every day with Remy, and in the end, I very nearly did.

Thank you for joining me in my pregnancy and baby journey. I will always be grateful for our little girl and how she made me a mother. I hope that you enjoy this video that I made, and will continue to follow along for the second year of her life. You guys are honestly so amazing!

9 months

9-months-oldRemy is officially nine months old today. Her biggest milestone this month is that she now walks while holding our hands. She also showing major signs of teething again, so hopefully this month she will get her first tooth! Girl is slow in her teething game.

I’ve also included a video of her playing her favourite game with me. At the end, she is showing off another one of her latest tricks. She belongs in a circus.

Have a wonderful weekend.

(nearly) 9 months in, (nearly) 9 months out

Processed with VSCO with a4 presetI often see posts of mothers celebrating the 9 month anniversary of their baby being earthside- or, however long they carried their them in their womb. I think that it’s such a beautiful commemoration, and is one that I had always planned on taking part of.

Remy was born 8 days before her due date. That means that Nov. 17 would’ve been our little anniversary of her being outside of my womb for the same amount of time that she was in it. That feels so surreal to me. Above is a photo of her and I on the 17th. Below is a photo of her when she was only 8 days old. I can’t believe how much she’s grown.

Processed with VSCO with a4 presetIn just a few days, we’ll be celebrating her 9 month birthday. Let the tears start rolling now.

  • Hello, friends. My name is Emory. I live on the Canadian prairies with my husband, daughter, and animals. Welcome!
    helloscarlettblog@outlook.com

  • In just 3 short days, @omgkersh gets to come home for 3 full (and equally short) days. He has been gone for only 3 weeks. In that amount of time, Remy has learned a few more words, has gone from waking at 5:30 am to now 7:30 am, and goes to sleep at 9 pm instead of 8 pm. She has begun to have tantrums, was babysat 5 times, and she no longer needs me for nap time. The most astonishing thing is that she nearly doubled the amount of teeth in her mouth by getting 3 more! I also had to put Holly to sleep, and to deal with some family issues. On top of all of that, Geoffrey will be gone for an additional 3 weeks until he is home for good. I'm hoping (and praying) that the remaining time that he is away will go much smoother than it did. Lord, give me strength. And coffee. And friends. Some little girl has been throwing tantrums alllllllll morning. In other news, I finally found a chair for this space. Now I just need art for the walls. Any suggestions?
