m + d newborn session

Welcome December! If you can recall, I first met this lovely couple from their maternity shoot. They have since gone from a duo to a trio. We met a few days before Halloween, so of course they put their little sweetie in her first costume!

It’s such an honour when clients return. I feel so blessed to photograph the same people more than once. On top of that, photographing new babies doesn’t feel like a job! We spent part of the afternoon in my home studio, and with soft music playing in the background and easy conversation, it was a wonderful time. I hope to see them again in the future.

newborn photography session

I received a bit of an urgent email in June, in which I was asked if I could photograph a couple and their newborn child before they left town in a matter of days. They had come into the city so that the mother could deliver her baby in a hospital, and I believe that it had taken longer than they originally anticipated. After their son arrived, they had little time to enjoy being new parents before they had to leave their hotel and make the long trek back home.

I had a cancellation for a session that was scheduled for the next evening, so I gladly accepted. I will never turn down an opportunity to photograph a newborn.

I spent just over an hour capturing the family of three. It was a short and blissful session that was mostly filled with nursing and outfit changes. I can’t help but overshare some of the 450+ photographs that I took that night. I hope that you can all get a sense of the delicate atmosphere that was filled with soft baby cries, laughter, and the television as background noise.

Again, these are just a few of those photographs. To book a session, please visit Prudence + Me Photography.

  • Welcome, friends! My name is Emory. I am a wife, mother of two (one earthside and one with the angels), and an animal rescuer. This is our life on the Canadian prairies.

  • Man, did Remy and I have a standoff this morning. All because she didn’t want to wear socks with her boots. She threw a massive tantrum, and I yelled at her. Afterwards, we went for our walk and everything was back to normal. That is, aside from her puffy eyes and tear-stained face. My poor girl. Parenting can be so hard sometimes. Thank goodness for children being so resilient.
That disaster behind me is nearly gone. We’re currently installing the last of our kitchen shelves, and our new sink arrived this morning. I’m excited to have a less cluttered spare room!
Have a wonderful week, everyone. This room has not yet been touched by us. It is our master bedroom. Everything about it (aside from our furniture) is exactly the same as when we purchased our home. I think that if we do list in the near future, it will be the only room in our house that we did not renovate. Part of me wants to stay just to finish it. A small part.
