happy new year

NewYears2016“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.

So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”

– Neil Gaiman

New Years Eve DIY – A Simple Cocktail Display

BeFunky_IMG.jpgIMG_2.jpg IMG_3.jpgIMG_4.jpg IMG_5.jpgIMG_6.jpg IMG_7.jpgIMG_8.jpgThe idea for a beautiful cocktail display actually came from this Restyled Cart that Elsie Larson posted last year (on my birthday!). Since then, I have been adamant on the idea of displaying our collection of alcohol and glassware in a unique and creative way.

We actually had a similar vintage cart to Elsie’s, and so I immediately turned ours into a similar little mini bar. However, after about two months we desperately needed the space back in our kitchen and so my cocktail cart went away. That is, until I had a brainwave to move our bar sky-high. After removing our cupboard doors, I wallpapered the interior of our new cocktail space. Then, I filled it with our best glassware, an apple dish full of sugar, and hung one of my favourite bottle openers. If you are planning on throwing a shindig for New Years, then a trendy cocktail display is definitely a must-have!

Have a safe and happy New Year!! See you in 2014!!! :-)))
