our woodsy and whimsical downstairs bedroom.

img_1 i began posting about our new bedroom one month and a half ago. it all started with the installation of a window. after our contractor completed that job, he began to frame the bedroom.

img_4once the framing was complete, it was time to put up the drywall.

img_5 next came the mudding and the taping …

img_7 img_8then *g* and i were ready to install wallpaper, paint the walls, rework the cupboard, and stain the baseboards. below are the after photos.

img_9 img_10img_11img_12img_13 img_14img_15 img_16while we are nearly finished with the bedroom, there are still some items on the ‘to do’ list.

1. frame off the wallpapered wall

2. buy new bedding

3. install a light fixture

4. paint the ceiling white

for now though, we are more than happy with our wood-themed bedroom. :-)

i found some magazines.

*g* and i skipped spring cleaning this year and instead went right to summer cleaning. actually, it was more like summer-i-took-everything-out-of-our-basement-and-threw-or-donated-it-all-away. what a relief, though! it’s understandable why getting rid of clutter is good chi for your home.

that being said, before i got rid of anything i went through it with a fine tooth comb. this included revisiting my vintage and current magazine collection. for me, skimming through these magazines was like looking through old photo albums. certain pictures stirred up feelings of nostalgia, and i wondered how i was ever going to part with them. knowing that i really had no choice, i decided to document my favorite articles before i sent them to the recycling bin. that way, i would always have them (at least on my computer).

p.s. do any of you feel the same way about certain items that you own?

what i bought.

wooden camera art from etsy.

i found jesiiii’s etsy store on abeautifulmess.com. i know, i know. can i go just one post without talking about abm? mmm, possibly! not this time, though. ;-)

we love to decorate little green with anything wooden. we don’t, however, own any wooden artwork. i definitely needed to change that!

having just built our camera station in april, the moment i saw these beautiful pieces i knew that i must have them. it didn’t matter that they were magnets, because no one would see their backs once they were placed in the wall crate.

i could not be happier with this purchase!
