38 weeks

38 Weeks PregnantNot much longer! With my now weekly doctor appointments, it seems like my whole life is already revolving around baby. I love it.

IMG_3356At my 37 week check-up, I had quite a few tests done. My doctor had also requested that I have my fourth ultrasound to confirm that Poppy’s head was down. She and another doctor had tried to feel for the positioning of the baby, but they couldn’t be certain due to the location of my placenta. In the end, all is still well.

38 Weeks - 6My 38 week check-up was much more routine. Aside from some embarrassing hiccups, the heart rate was strong and they could even feel a little foot trying to push its way out. Only 1 week and 4 days remaining!

my winter maternity photography

Winter Maternity Shoot - 20.1Winter Maternity Shoot - 1Ladies and gentlemen, I am so happy to finally be revealing my maternity pictures to all of you! My inspiration came from these photographs, as well as this photo shoot. I love outdoor photography, and was specifically wanting to convey the beauty of the snow on the landscape. I find that most winter landscapes appear so elegant and fragile, and I wanted that sense of delicacy and to be incorporated into my maternity pictures. I hope that you can also get a sense of that.

our stroller and car seat

Peg Perego Car Seat and StrollerWhen it came to choosing a brand of stroller, I had always wanted one with a bassinet option. I remember pushing my niece around in one when she was a newborn. I loved being able to walk and see her face, and to know when she fell asleep, rather than guessing with an outward facing stroller. With that in mind, we chose the Book Pop-Up Stroller by Peg-Perego.

PEG-62MF53DX53_AThe stroller itself comes with a bassinet and chassis seat. One additional perk with the bassinet is that it is approved for overnight sleeping. That means we will not have to purchase a playpen if we stay the night somewhere. We selected the Atmosphere colour option.

Peg Perego Car Seat and Stroller - 3Last, but not least, we also have a car seat cover that I had purchased approximately two years ago from the dollar store, of all places! Not thinking that it would fit, I placed it on the car seat this weekend. To my surprise, it went on so smoothly. Not only did we save $60 or so, but the fact that it’s grey and matches our stroller and car seats was definitely an added bonus. Finally, we hung the car seat toy that I had gotten from The Bird and Elephant Etsy store.

Peg Perego Car Seat and Stroller_With one stroller and three seats set up and ready to go, we simply need a baby to fill them all!

36 weeks

36 weeks pregnant

Everything that I am wearing is available in the store. Dress : Suzy Shier // Necklace : Terrarium // Bracelet : J.Crew.

I am now at 36 weeks into my pregnancy. Here is an excerpt from What to Expect When You’re Expecting that summarizes exactly how I am feeling.

“Finally. The month you’ve been waiting for and working toward (and possibly, worrying about just a little bit) since that pregnancy test came back positive is here at last. Chances are you’re at once very ready (To hold that baby! To see my toes again! To sleep on my stomach!) and not ready at all. Yet despite the inevitable flurry of activity (more practitioner appointments, a layette to shop for, projects to finish at work, paint colours to pick for baby’s room), you may find that the ninth month seems like the longest month of all. Except, of course, if you don’t deliver by your due date. In that case, alas, it’s the tenth month that’s the longest.”

I find myself talking to my baby more and more, mostly about how I wish that he/she would come out already. I did not really start feeling pregnant until the beginning of last month. From struggling to breathe, to painful heartburn, to sore hips, to the lack of sleep, to a heavy belly, to that metallic taste, to people finally recognizing that I am pregnant, I am now “over” feeling this way. The hardest part is seeing the crib, swing, change table, and more set up and ready to go, but not having anyone to put in it just yet. I want to meet little Poppy so badly, but also know that I should cherish my remaining days of freedom. I am enjoying spending that one night a week alone with my husband to do as we please. Oh, how our lives are about to change!

Get ready, everyone. I know that I am.

outdoor maternity photos

225I have been collecting pins on Pinterest for a few months now of my favourite outdoor maternity photographs. Being a fan of landscape photography, I thought that having a maternity photo shoot outside would look spectacular. There’s just one problem, and that is battling the extreme cold in the middle of winter on the Canadian prairies.

I know that we will get at least one warm day between now and the end of February. Until then, here are the photographs that will be going onto my mood board.
