enjoy a secondhand piano in your home

The thought of buying a secondhand piano will either fill you with dread or be music to your ears.

However, a second-hand piano makes a lot of sense economically. It can mean you have the money you need for the rest of your piano room, whether that means getting an AC repair or buying a plush stool to ensure maximum comfort.

Pre-owned or second-hand grand pianos for sale can be an excellent buy for those who want the exceptional sound quality that the longer strings afford, but don’t have the budget for a new grand piano. However, to keep your grand piano dream from turning into a nightmare, you do need to purchase your piano carefully.

The key is to always use a reputable dealer for the sale, and where possible, to try the piano before you part with any money. It is also important to ask the right questions about the grand piano for sale that you are considering.

First, you need to check that it has been tuned regularly, and that it has been well maintained. The more information the seller can tell you about the piano the better. They will have got the information from the previous owner, and a willingness by that owner to share shows that they cared for the grand piano.

It is also worth finding out where it was kept previously. This will help you to understand the temperature and humidity changes that it has been subjected to and to assess the potential effect of this on the wood and the strings of the piano.

The Right Choice For A Child?

A piano offers a great way to relax for adults, but what about when buying for a child. But, is a baby grand piano the right piano for a child? What do you need to consider when buying a piano for any beginner, especially a young learner?

If your child shows an interest in playing the piano it can be tempting to rush out and get the best piano money can buy. But, is this the right approach? Of course, you want your child to learn to play on a decent instrument, but there is more to it than just price. Much depends on the age and size of the child. You need to consider pianos for sale that the child can actually reach. They need to be able to sit at the right angle, allowing their feet to reach the pedals and their hands to sit comfortably at the keys. This is one of the reasons why a baby grand piano for sale is a popular option, alongside an adjustable stool.

Another reason why baby grand pianos are popular is that they have more responsive key actions than many upright pianos. This makes practising that bit easier and, therefore, more rewarding. A baby grand piano will also take up less room in your home than a full size grand piano, and this is ideal if you have limited room available. However, they still take up more space than an upright piano. As with any piano for sale, you need to take your child with you and let them try the piano before you buy it.

my 34th birthday

November certainly is the month of celebrations for our little family. On Saturday I had a birthday! I am now 34 years old. It’s hurts to say that number out loud. I feel so much younger than that! I think that a lot of people wish that they could pick an age and stay there for as long as they wanted. I would choose 23. Oh, to be that young again.

Regardless, this year around the sun was such a good one, even with its periodic downs. Geoffrey and I even hired a babysitter and we went to the movies on my birthday! Our first date in 1.5 years. It was glorious.

Here are some pictures that we took in honour of mama getting older. It is not easy photographing two little ones, but man is it ever hilarious. Geoff and I are usually sweating by the end, even though we never stop laughing. Out of 140 pictures we only had two perfect shots. I’m including those outtakes because I think that I actually like them more.

As a departure, I also filmed our session from a different angle to show the chaos behind the scenes. The music is by Colter Wall, my current favourite artist. He and I are from the same small hometown in Saskatchewan. “John Beyers” is one of his best songs, in my opinion. ;-))) Click the above link to watch the video!

See you next week!

a beautiful mess : video home tour

IMG_1531Hello, friends! Remember on Friday when I said that I had a massive blogging surprise for you all? Well our home is going to be featured on A Beautiful Mess

Honestly guys, this website is the reason why I first began blogging. Before hearing about it nearly three years ago, I was obsessed with the page Apartment Therapy. I loved that they would publish posts a few times a day, and loved being exposed to different homes from across the world. Yet, I longed for more. I wanted more DIYs and people that I could look up to. My wishes came to fruition when one day AT posted a craft tutorial from A Beautiful Mess. I clicked on the link, not knowing what to expect. My life was literally changed after that. I instantly fell in love with the pretty and whimsical nature of ABM, and adored Elsie and Emma. A few months later, I created my first blog, which was wholly inspired by all things beautiful and messy.

I am so incredibly lucky to be on their website for their own ‘At Home With’ series. In honour of this achievement, I’ve created my first video tour of our new and reclaimed home. If you would like past posts on all of the details and DIYs that went into The Little Barn, please click here.

This is one goal in regards to blogging that I can now cross off my bucket list. I hope that my own readers are just as excited as I am. For those of you who are here from A Beautiful Mess, welcome! Please say hello, and stay awhile.

still want you : wedding anniversary video

Wedding Anniversary Shoot 16Tomorrow is the day when we will finally be celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary.

I have been blogging about this event for the last two months. Five years may not seem very long to a lot of couples, but it does for me in only the best way possible. We have done so much together in the last few years, and oddly enough, we have ended up in almost the precise circumstances as to when we were first married. It’s funny how life circles back around without you even realizing it.

Friends, here is our newest wedding video. We took comparable photographs to our initial set, and added both new and old to the slideshow. Seeing both concurrent with one another makes me a bit sad. If only I could keep that youth with the wisdom that I’ve learned.

The music is by Brandon Flowers, of course, since I wouldn’t have fallen in love with Geoffrey if it wasn’t for him. Feel free to watch his music video here. It’ll help you understand our own silly actions. :-)))

Have a great weekend! Make sure to check back on Tuesday, since I have a huge blogging surprise for you guys! Like MASSIVE!

dear future husband

This is my second post that will be dedicated to Miss Meghan Trainor. This girl is awesome. After falling in lust with and discussing her song here, I subsequently came to adore her next two singles as well. However, it wasn’t until her newest song, “Dear Future Husband” that I considered myself a full-fledged MegaTron (fan).

“Dear Future Husband” speaks to me on so many levels, from satisfying my ears to understanding my modern-day womanly needs. Each line in the song has been something that I have said to my own husband at one point or another in our marriage. I couldn’t believe it. Finally, I felt as if someone was on the same page as me. Only, why did it have to be this lovely lady instead of my spouse? Why can’t all men think like this?

Before playing this song for Geoffrey, I said to him that I think that Meghan and I would be friends in real life. She just gets it. I also told him to take in every word if he never wanted to fight again. Guys, if you are reading this, then the same applies to you! Seriously, it’s just that simple.

Turn up your speakers and listen with your ears, head, and heart. This song is for everyone.
