remy’s moonrise kingdom photographs (part 3)

This is the last post of Remy’s birthday pictures. I wish that I could publish more! Having you all see the photographs makes it feel as if you were there as well.

Selecting only thirty-six of 333 images was so difficult. However, I think that the ones that I did settle upon embody the essence of the party. In my opinion, it was visually stunning, filled with all of the best people, and love. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

I am so glad that we went with Meraki + Light. These pictures turned out to be the most beautiful ones that our family now have.

remy’s moonrise kingdom photographs (part 2)

A few days ago, I revealed the photographs from the first part of Remy’s Moonrise Kingdom party.

When I had booked Tammy from Meraki + Light, we had discussed having family portraits taken. Given that there was no natural light in the room that we rented, we decided to go into the library itself and take some pictures by the large windows. Here are a few of those photos. I think they turned out perfectly.

remy’s moonrise kingdom photographs (part 1)

2y5a00796-copyWe had decided to hire a photographer for Remy’s birthday party shortly after deciding to make it a big event. Much like her birth, we knew that we didn’t want to worry about capturing the many moments, but to be completely focused on our little girl without any distractions.

2y5a00837-copyThere is an incredible amount of photographers in our city, so which one would we choose? Knowing that my neighbour has had a few family portraits done, I enlisted her help. I asked her if she could pick her top three photographers in the city, which ones would they be? Without hesitation she answered that she would give anything to be photographed by Meraki + Light.

2y5a00752-copyWith that in mind, I took a look at their website. I immediately fell in love with each and every one of their pictures. I contacted Tammy (who is also the sweetest person ever), and after a few conversations, booked her for the party.

Here is part one of the pictures.

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

– Mark Twain

Friends, I am so honoured to introduce our daughter and newest addition to our family to all of you. She was born one week and one day early. A huge thanks to all of you who joined me over the last nine months of my pregnancy. Your comments and support truly meant the world to me. I will be taking a few weeks off from blogging in order to spend all of my time with our little girl.

Sending my best to everyone! See you soon.

  • Hello, friends. My name is Emory. I live on the Canadian prairies with my husband, daughter, and animals. Welcome!

  • Thank you to all those who liked, commented, and sent me messages yesterday. I am overwhelmed by your love. I would like to share one more thing. Since 2013, I have used my blog as a creative outlet and my Instagram account as my diary. I feel it’s a much better platform to reach out to others, and to be more truthful (if we dare). I try to only follow those who don’t always show the ups and highs of their “perfect” lives. While I think that the more popular, beige square, ad-infused, California chic, glam mother accounts are beautiful, I also find them to be depressing and unoriginal. A miscarriage is real. It is nothing to be ashamed of. If you don’t choose to discuss yours, that’s totally fine! I needed to share mine in order to begin my grieving and healing process. I am now a mother to two children. This is something that I did not want to, nor will I ever hide. Yes, our second child came much too early and did not survive, but that does not make his/her life any less worthy. Our baby was alive at one time. Our baby has a soul. Now, our baby has a name and will forever be part of our family. We are a family of four- three on earth and one angel in heaven. So, thanks again all. Sadness. What a difference a year can make. Last holiday season, Remy turned 10 months old. She had just gotten her first two teeth, and on Christmas morning, had learned to crawl. This year, we are mourning the loss of our second child. I suffered a miscarriage this week, and it has left a deep void in our family. This was going to be our Christmas card where we revealed to friends and family our joyous secret. Now, it remains one of our only photos as a family of four. Because of this, I want to share it with the world. Give your children an extra hug and kiss for me tonight. You are so blessed to have them. All my love, Emory.
