goodbye, gym

Gym OOTD - 1I am a gym goer. I have been for twelve years. Going for a workout is the only part of my day that I get to be selfish. It is there that I can tune out the world and concentrate on bettering myself both physically and mentally. It never fails to bring me out of a bad mood, and always guarantees to enable a good sleep at the end of the day. It has always been one of my favourite pastimes.

Gym OOTD - 2I was recently told at 30 weeks that I had to stop going to the gym. For the last five years of our marriage, it has served as many date nights, a shared interest, a ton of humorous conversations, a mood lifter, and an overall constant routine in our lives. Now, it will remain a thing of the past and not-so-distant-future.

Gym OOTD - 3These photos were taken to commemorate my last visit to the gym, at nearly 7 months into my pregnancy. In fact, it was at the gym where I had discovered that we were going to have a baby! I had taken a pregnancy test in the bathroom stall, not thinking at all that it would be positive. After seeing the results, I cried and cried, sent a picture to my husband, called my mum and sister, then had a workout. I will never forget that, and find it quite funny today.

So, goodbye friend. Until it is medically safe to meet again. (Above is my bump at 15 weeks. That was my first visit back after 11 weeks of morning sickness.)

what i bought : snoogle

Pregnancy Pillow - 3I had read somewhere that around week 16 of your pregnancy, you should avoid sleeping on your stomach. I cannot fall asleep unless I am curled up in said position. Sometimes I will sleep on my side, and only rarely on my back. However, it is on my stomach that I get achieve my most comfortable and deepest of sleeps. Not anymore.

Now that I am well into my second trimester, I am experiencing pinched sciatic nerve pain, leg numbness, and sore hips. Compared to being ill ten times a day, it’s like a walk in the park. What I do find painful is when I try to roll over from my stomach and onto my side whilst lying in bed. It feels like someone is tearing my stomach muscles in half. It therefore takes me around two very slow minutes to roll over.

Pregnancy Pillow - 2I discovered through online research that pregnancy pillows not only help women stay off of their stomachs at night, but also alleviate many lower back and leg problems. There are many additional benefits as well, but these were the main ones that I was concerned with. After visiting the stores this last weekend, I purchased my first beautiful, grey Snoogle body pillow by Leachco. Now my biggest issue is never wanting to leave the bed. I’m also finding more excuses to take naps. Move over husband, the baby and I are in love.

This was not a paid-for advertisement. All words and views were simply my own. :-)

surprise, i’m pregnant!

Baby Anouncement 4Did you see that?! Did you happen read my amazing news in the title?! It turns out that I am pregnant! Cue the choir of angels, pop the champagne bottles, and so on. :-)))

IMG_9659While I am incredibly happy and excited now, this news had initially come as a complete shock to me. Yet, that shock was short-lived. Almost immediately after finding out that we were going to have a baby, the awful morning sickness set in. For the past two and a half months, I have been extremely, extremely ill. Everything from my work life, to my personal life, to my social media life has suffered as a result. Without revealing too much, I will say that I was bedridden during this time with crippling migraines and violent all-day sickness. Then everything suddenly changed last week when I had my first ultrasound. After seeing a tiny beating heart on the screen and such a perfect profile, I felt a change wash over me. Whether it’s because I am out of my first trimester, or because I now know what I am fighting to stay healthy for, for the first time since June I feel truly happy and physically a little bit better. I no longer wanted to keep this news a secret, but to share it with everyone who has been a part of my life over the last two years. So here you go!

Baby Anouncement 5Our little one will be joining our family at the beginning of March 2016. I cannot wait to meet him/her!

Have the most glorious weekend everyone!!
