merry christmas

Merry Christmas all!! Even though these are traditionally my shorter posts, I love that after six years, I am still here to wish everyone a happy holiday! It’s an honour to still be writing my blog and hearing from those who are kind enough to comment.

We were able to go on a few outings this holiday season. The first one that we took Remy and Wilder to was called Glow.

Glow is an indoor light festival located at Prairieland Park. This was its first year in Saskatoon, and I’m guessing will have many more to come. It featured light gardens, a treasure hunt, food, playground, Santa Claus, live entertainment, and over one million lights!

A little more on the expensive side, it was still worth going at least once.

Next, we were able to go to the Enchanted Forest at the Forestry Farm.

This drive-thru holiday light tour is in its 21st year and has over 80,000 visitors per year. Every year features one new display.

Visiting the Enchanted Forest is something that Geoffrey and I have done every year since dating! Remy enjoys it immensely, but Wilder is still too young to understand what is going on. This was her fourth time going, and his second (we took him last year when he was two weeks old). She has already asked to go back again, so I think that we will go once more before they take it down in January.

Finally, we visited the walking light display at Pike Lake Provincial Park on Saturday. It was our first time going and it was just so much fun! The weather was somewhat warm and the displays, although not many, were very well done. You could also go ice skating, play crokicurl, gather around the bonfire, and have hot dogs and hot chocolate afterwards. Too cute.

Our family seems to change with nearly every Christmas picture. From a beardless husband and two dogs and a cat in 2013, to hair extensions and masks in 2014, a first pregnancy in 2015, our first baby in 2016, a second pregnancy and miscarriage in 2017, and finally, another new baby in 2018. Life has certainly been exciting over these last few years! I only hope that we will continue to love, learn, and grow in the New Year. You as well!

Happy holidays, and enjoy your time with friends and family!!

photo of the day

Screen Shot 2016-02-21 at 10.39.27 AM“[My father] harboured a curious theory about how to develop a sense of beauty in the minds of his children. Every time my mother became pregnant, he would wait until the last three months of her pregnancy and then he would announce to her that ‘the glorious walks’ must begin. These glorious walks consisted of him taking her to places of great beauty in the countryside and walking with her for about an hour each day so that she could absorb the splendour of the surroundings. His theory was that if the eye of a pregnant woman was constantly observing the beauty of nature, this beauty would somehow become transmitted to the mind of the unborn baby within her womb and that baby would grow up to be a lover of beautiful things. This was the treatment that all of his children received before they were born.”

my winter maternity photography

Winter Maternity Shoot - 20.1Winter Maternity Shoot - 1Ladies and gentlemen, I am so happy to finally be revealing my maternity pictures to all of you! My inspiration came from these photographs, as well as this photo shoot. I love outdoor photography, and was specifically wanting to convey the beauty of the snow on the landscape. I find that most winter landscapes appear so elegant and fragile, and I wanted that sense of delicacy and to be incorporated into my maternity pictures. I hope that you can also get a sense of that.

everyone needs : lotta from stockholm

Lotta from StockholmLotta from Stockholm - 11I have often posted about my love affair with Lotta from Stockholm. From my first pair of clogs, through to my last, it has been a beautiful relationship. That affinity has not gone unnoticed. Today, I will tell you why once more, I have fallen in love with the brand all over again.

Lotta from Stockholm - 5Winters on the Canadian prairies require exceptional footwear. Given that we experience up to 5 months or more of snow, it is imperative that each individual owns at least one pair of well-built boots that possess gripped soles and the ability to keep your feet warm. I personally require that they be cute as well.

Lotta from Stockholm - 6I had emailed the website a few weeks ago, stating that I was in search of my umpteenth pair of clog boots. My pregnant feet have already gone up an entire size. Simply asking if I may receive a discount, their reply was short and sweet. Sure, they said, we’ll send you a free pair! All I had to do was pick out my favourite boots, and they would be shipped right to my door. I almost cried at this remarkably kind gesture.

Lotta from Stockholm - 7After having great luck with the Sanita line, I decided on their restocked Peggy Sue Ankle Boot. I recently had to get rid of my favourite pair of black clog boots, and was hoping to replace them with an equal, all season alternative. The Sanita boots have far exceeded my expectations. To begin, they are so comfortable. I love that they are multidimensional in their colour and style. They also add much needed height without making me feel as if I am a towering figure. I dare say that they are the perfect winter boot.

Lotta from Stockholm - 9I could not be more thrilled with these boots. The fact that the people behind the brand are amazing souls as well confirms my statement that everyone needs Lotta from Stockholm in their lives.

in november

Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.14.51 PMWelcome, December readers!

Another month has gone by, and here we are only weeks away from Christmas and the New Year. Say what?

Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.15.23 PMHere is what happened over on Hello, Scarlett in November.

IMG_0001I celebrated the passing weeks of my pregnancy. I began the month at 22 weeks, and ended it at 26 weeks! Baby is now the size of an eggplant. Huzzah! #🍆

In The Store - 3There were many OOTDs and promotions in the store this month. I also had two fashion posts. One featured a romper that I had purchased online, and the other a dress that I bought in town.

Kinfolk_Vol17_TheBloodMenu-2There were three food-related posts as well. The first was a brilliant dessert, the second was a look into coffee, and the third was a mason jar brownie recipe.

Red Jenny LindI discussed our new crib in this post. I also introduced my newest nephew to all of you!

DIY Sonogram Frame - 5There was only one DIY this month. It centred around babies, of course.

Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.13.30 PMAs for our weather, we went from having no snow to having a lot of snow. Much of it has since melted, and for the rest of this week we will be having temperatures above 0°C (32°F). That is extremely warm for the prairies.

Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.14.29 PMLast but not least, I not only celebrated my 30th birthday, but said goodbye to my mother as well. (Don’t worry, she’s still alive!)

Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.14.10 PMAll in all it was a fairly easy month. Now, to start preparing for the madness that is December.

Thirty - 9Have a wonderful Tuesday!
