have you seen haveheart

Reindeer5Christmas is but a few weeks away, which means that it’s time to start getting together your presents. Because Christmas isn’t about family, friends, and sharing the love. It’s all about getting gifts and seeing how far you can push yourself until you snap. Right?

I’m going to try and have a few DIYs this month, in honour of the season. This time of year is particularly taxing on wallets, so why not try to make some of your gifts rather than spending and arm and leg on that special someone? After all, you only have two of them. How will you be able to make that delicious holiday meal if you’re missing your appendages?

Reindeer3That being said, I’m also going to make sure that these Christmas crafts are extremely easy to make! But would you really expect anything different from little ol’ me?

Reindeer2So for the first December DIY project, I made the most beautiful Reindeer Plates for HaveHeart Magazine. Largely inspired by similar plates that I saw on both Pinterest and UO’s website, I thought, ‘Well hey, those look quite fun. I could make my own version of that.’ Spoiler alert: they are! Plus they make great jewelry holders, serving trays, or general decorative kitchen plates. They’re just the perfect gift.

Reindeer1This is what you’ll need:

Toy reindeer

Plate(s)

Crazy glue

Paint (spray or acrylic)

Oh, Pinterest, you slay me. You are the cause of my late nights, and the inspiration behind my latest endeavours. I turn to you for warmth and comfort, and you never cease to lift me up when I am down. I hope that our relationship will continue to grow, our bond deepen, and that you will never leave me. I think that I love you. Does anyone else feel this way?

I never gave much thought a Laundry Room before planning The Little Barn. In fact, our last one consisted of an old washing machine in the middle of our bathroom, sans a dryer. However, our new Laundry Room is quickly become the most diverse and important space of our new home. Isn’t that funny? This room has to function as a Mud Room, Office, Closet, Dog Room, Greenhouse, and Laundry Room, in addition to having access to the crawlspace beneath our home. Tall order. The size? 11′ x 9’10”. Can we do it? Yes we can!

Here are my reigning finds on Pinterest that are making me excited to create (rather than cower away from) this multi-functional space. I call the style primitive-meets-farmhouse-modern.

what i bought – uo beach towels

5.jpgNow that hell has frozen over and I’ve become a regular beach bum, I decided that it was time to invest in some beach towels. I turned to no other place than my favourite hipster store, Urban Outfitters. I bought a Relax towel for myself, and a Pendleton towel for my husband. But like any good mother, I love them both equally. ;-)))

i’ll be seeing you

IMG_1-3.jpg 2.36.42 PM IMG2.jpgIMG_2.jpg IMG_5.jpgIMG_4.jpg IMG_6.jpgIMG_7.jpg IMG_8.jpgIMG_9.jpg IMG_10.jpgIMG_3.jpgThis year I promised myself that I would purchase my first iPhone. Being a product of my generation, and already owning multiple Apple devices, I felt that it was time to retire my Samsung. After all, most of the bloggers that I follow have owned their iPhones for years! So very reluctantly, I picked a day during the middle of the week to go and buy a new cellphone.

I must admit that learning to use an iPhone was extremely easy, and the overall transition has been fun and amazing. I am also becoming addicted to the free games that are provided in the Apps. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, I have to say that the cases alone are reason enough to switch to an iPhone. I am seriously in love with my new rabbit case (even though his whiskers scratch my ears every time I receive a call).

Yet, for some reason, I still can’t part with my old phone. I have even dedicated one of the two zippers in my purse to bring it along wherever I go. With no number or service, it is a sad reminder of my initial switch to a smartphone. I feel as if my Samsung needs a proper goodbye, so I am treating this post as a sendoff.

Here were some other song titles that I deemed appropriate for saying farewell to my phone: “Yesterday,” “Here Without You,” “Goodbye My Lover,” “I Will Remember You,” “Don’t Forget to Remember Me,” and “See You on the Other Side.” So long, my Samsung. I’ll be seeing you.

Have a spectacular weekend, friends!!

What I Bought.

IMG.jpgLast year we had purchased a cord kit from Urban Outfitters. We were first going to hang it in our addition under our staircase, that is, when it was still going to be a little office space. When we had no other choice but to turn it into a closet, I decided to use the cord as an extra light source in our spare bedroom. That was all fine and dandy until a few months later when I was in desperate need for a light above our beautiful DIY Cot. I needed one that would not take up any shelf space. Cue the cord kit!

At first I held off buying a pendant for the kit, simply because it kept moving around Little Green every few months. I didn’t want to commit to something unique that only fit the decor of that particular room. After hanging over my blogging corner for awhile, I knew that I would not be changing it again (knock on wood). So I went back on UO’s website, added this triple tiered shade to my cart, and happily checked out!

Readers, do you also wait awhile before making your design decisions?

P.S. Did any of you happen to notice that I’ve added an ‘About Me’ in the sidebar?

P.P.S. Did you also notice that I am using capital letters now? Hello big changes! :-)))
