my 34th birthday

November certainly is the month of celebrations for our little family. On Saturday I had a birthday! I am now 34 years old. It’s hurts to say that number out loud. I feel so much younger than that! I think that a lot of people wish that they could pick an age and stay there for as long as they wanted. I would choose 23. Oh, to be that young again.

Regardless, this year around the sun was such a good one, even with its periodic downs. Geoffrey and I even hired a babysitter and we went to the movies on my birthday! Our first date in 1.5 years. It was glorious.

Here are some pictures that we took in honour of mama getting older. It is not easy photographing two little ones, but man is it ever hilarious. Geoff and I are usually sweating by the end, even though we never stop laughing. Out of 140 pictures we only had two perfect shots. I’m including those outtakes because I think that I actually like them more.

As a departure, I also filmed our session from a different angle to show the chaos behind the scenes. The music is by Colter Wall, my current favourite artist. He and I are from the same small hometown in Saskatchewan. “John Beyers” is one of his best songs, in my opinion. ;-))) Click the above link to watch the video!

See you next week!

acreage video tour

Hello! Today I am publishing a video tour of our new acreage. We have neither had the time nor money to make any real improvements to the interior yet, so I thought that it would be a great idea to document it now before we do! That way, I can see the changes over the years to come. It will also allow you guys to have a better understanding of our latest home. :-)))

I will add that received a few messages with my previous post regarding everything going wrong. What I failed to mention was that our home was actually a foreclosure, which means that we bought it in “as is” condition. This made us very nervous, but at the same time we would not have been able to get it as quickly as we did or for the price that we did. So, it was a gamble (but one that paid off in the end).

Enjoy the video, lovely people!

sweet creature

Last week I returned to the beach located just a few minutes from our old home. Remy and I used to walk there each day. We spent every morning at this secluded beach, from when she was 3 months old until she was 6 months. Then we moved. Why did we? I nearly forget.

I decided to spend the afternoon there with her and Truman after missing it immensely. It was such a windy day, but was also so hot. It was a nice combination, and both of us loved being back there. We didn’t want to leave.

I’m not a perfect person. I have a hard time dealing with change, and often I don’t give things a fair shot. I probably give up too easily, and I listen too much to what others say. I’m trying to work on all of these things, and am forever trying to better myself. I know that I will never be perfect, but contrary to what some say, I am a genuinely nice person who puts others first. Confused? Yes. Selfish? No. Trying to carve out a nice, simple life? Definitely. Most everyone deserves happiness. I will keep trying until I reach that point where I know I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I feel as if it is just around the corner.

Happy Monday, friends!

sign of the times

My goodness. Is anyone else as obsessed with this song as I am? I can’t help but share it, as I’ve been listening to it and only it on repeat ever since it came out. From the lyrics, to his voice, to the melody, and the length of the song, it’s all done to perfection. The fact that it’s written from the point of view of a mother is just the icing on the cake. Don’t get me started on the video. Although it was shot in Scotland, the combination of the warm tones, grey skies, and water reminds me so much of Saskatchewan.

I was never a One Direction fan. Harry Styles, on the other hand, you’ve got my heart.

did you ever go to meeting uncle joe?

Has anyone ever put their child in Kindermusik? When my nieces were still young, my sister and sister-in-law enrolled them in the program. All I knew about it was that they sang “toys away” each time it was time to clean up. It was a bit that we did at home, and I didn’t know much about the class aside from that.

I put Remy in Kindermusik when she was eight months old. This picture was taken after her first-ever class. It was actually quite late in the game, as Cuddle & Bounce is from 0-12 months. Each class is 45 minutes in length and is filled with singing, circle dancing, baby massages, reading, sign language, and playing with a lot of different instruments. At first she was overwhelmed with the people as the noise. She’s a very serious baby in public and it takes her usually around 30 minutes to warm up in a room. After that, she squeals and zooms around. I loved Kindermusik from the start, but knowing that Remy wasn’t really into it at first had me questioning if I was even going to keep her in it. I’m so glad that I did! Not only have I made some really amazing friends from the program, but she so enjoys it now. I’ve also learned a lot about her overall development.

Tomorrow, Remy is going to graduate from Cuddle & Bounce and begin Sing & Play, which is for children from 12-24 months. I’m excited but also a little nervous. However, two of her best friends (and mine) will be joining us, so we should be just fine.

I highly recommend Kindermusik for any parent and child! Above is one of my favourite songs that we sing.
