Last week on HSB, I said that I would soon be disclosing two magazine-related surprises to my readers. With the first admission already out of the bag, the second one is this: I am a newly minter writer for HaveHeart Magazine! That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, this little girl from the prairies was asked to have her DIYS published on their website. This is an occurrence came most unexpectedly, but that I am welcoming with wide open arms. I am thrilled to be taking on the project not for monetary gain or exposure, but so that I can begin to take writing more seriously. Short of moving to New York to experience the daily struggles in life and love but then selling myself out to GQ for rent and food money, I almost feel like a saner, less selfish, and more cautious version of Hannah Horvath. You know, the season 3 rendition of Hannah. The one that is growing up and coming to a realization regarding the fragile balance between doing what you love and doing what you have to in order to survive.
Life can be busy, complicated, and messy. It can also throw you a welcome curveball when you least expect it. I am embracing my two newest positions in my career right now with open arms. I am letting the world notice me. In true Hannah form, I am saying, “it’s Wednesday night baby, and I’m alive!”
And whoever said that blogging will get you nowhere?
