zara baby haul

I think that I mentioned this before, but Remy has always been bang on with clothing sizes. When she was less than 3 months, she was in newborn and then 0-3 month clothing. As a 4 month old, she was wearing 3-6 month clothes, at 7 months she was in 6-12, and so on. Right around her one year birthday, she had outgrown all of her clothes. She desperately needed a new wardrobe, so I logged on to one of my favourite websites for baby clothes; Zara.

I was fortunate in that ordering her so many pieces aligned with spring being just around the corner. This meant that I could finally pick out lighter clothes. Hello, short sleeves, shorts, and spring jackets!

What Remy ended up getting was the Embroidered T-Shirt, the Sequinned Balloons T-Shirt, the Watercolour Striped T-Shirt (which is actually for boys, but is just so cute), the Loose-Fit Jumpsuit, the Openwork Bermuda Shorts, the Extra Long Leggings (again for boys), and the Hooded Trench Coat which I didn’t take a photo of but is to die for!

She looks so adorable in all of her clothes. Zara also fits wide, which is great for our little chubbins! With only $5 shipping, it is always my go-to store.

1st birthday: wilderness outfits

mk-outfits-5-version-2Choosing family outfits for Remy’s Moonrise Kingdom birthday party has not been easy. I have been going back and forth on what we should wear. Should we dress up as the characters in the film? Geoffrey would be in a khaki scout costume, me in a schoolgirl outfit, and Remy in an island police uniform.

Or should we wear our regular clothes, but stick to the warmer tones that are complementary to the film’s vintage colour palette? Outfits that are also wilderness-inspired? In the end, I decided to go with the latter.

mk-outfits-4Remy is wearing her checked dress from Zara, black tights from Carter’s, and Elk moccasins from Minimoc. I am wearing a brown romper from Threadsence and black tights. Geoffrey has on a plaid shirt and Lucky Brand jeans.

Because we are hiring a photographer, I wanted the photographs to be reminiscent of a themed birthday and not a Halloween party. While I still may alter our outfits before the big day, these are very similar to what we will be wearing as a family.

Less than one week to go! Happy Family Day, Canadians.

what i bought: zara

zara-baby-1zara-baby-2Remy is at a stage where she is currently in between sizes. In being a somewhat smaller baby, she is always right on track for her age and clothing. When she was 2 months, she was wearing 0-3 month clothes. At 5 months, it was 3-6 month, and 8 months was 6-12 months. You get the picture. Now that she is 10 months, she is slightly too big for 6-12 month but not quite big enough for 12-18 month clothes.

zara-baby-4I’ve recently purged Remy’s closet and now am left with only a few items. I started ordering a few pieces online, hoping that they will fit her. These socks and this dress from Zara are included in my purchases.

zara-baby-5The dress is actually one that she will be wearing for her 1st birthday. I’m planning a big soiree for her, and will reveal all to you at the beginning of next month. The theme is near and dear to my heart, just like my little girl.

zara-baby-7Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Hello, friends. My name is Emory. I live on the Canadian prairies with my husband, daughter, and animals. Welcome!

  • Thank you to all those who liked, commented, and sent me messages yesterday. I am overwhelmed by your love. I would like to share one more thing. Since 2013, I have used my blog as a creative outlet and my Instagram account as my diary. I feel it’s a much better platform to reach out to others, and to be more truthful (if we dare). I try to only follow those who don’t always show the ups and highs of their “perfect” lives. While I think that the more popular, beige square, ad-infused, California chic, glam mother accounts are beautiful, I also find them to be depressing and unoriginal. A miscarriage is real. It is nothing to be ashamed of. If you don’t choose to discuss yours, that’s totally fine! I needed to share mine in order to begin my grieving and healing process. I am now a mother to two children. This is something that I did not want to, nor will I ever hide. Yes, our second child came much too early and did not survive, but that does not make his/her life any less worthy. Our baby was alive at one time. Our baby has a soul. Now, our baby has a name and will forever be part of our family. We are a family of four- three on earth and one angel in heaven. So, thanks again all. Sadness. What a difference a year can make. Last holiday season, Remy turned 10 months old. She had just gotten her first two teeth, and on Christmas morning, had learned to crawl. This year, we are mourning the loss of our second child. I suffered a miscarriage this week, and it has left a deep void in our family. This was going to be our Christmas card where we revealed to friends and family our joyous secret. Now, it remains one of our only photos as a family of four. Because of this, I want to share it with the world. Give your children an extra hug and kiss for me tonight. You are so blessed to have them. All my love, Emory.
